My HUGE Acropora microphthalma

My huge Acropora microphthalma has left my home. She was grown up until reaching huge dimensions of about 50×40x40 cm and my Aquarium was too small for her… so I decided to sell to create some empty spaces into my tank and so building a new layout.

The four photos above are related to the life of microphthalma on my tank: from her insertion (n.1), to changing tank (n.2), until the great moment… the spawning! (n.3). The last photo was taken yesterday when I took off her from my tank.

You can find other photos about "the Spawning" here: http://www.danireef.com/2007/08/03/r...microphthalma/

Uh......... WOW

Who did you sell to that had enough space for that big boy? An aquarium? I'd love to see pics of the system that can hold that as well as a FTS of yours.

Doesn't surprise me, that's the one SPS coral I have a hard time keeping away, had a tank meltdown a while back and was left with a little stub... well sure enough its' growing back down the dead skeleton and growing out and getting bigger again.

How long did it take to go from stub to that huge colony size?

Awesome, that gives me hope for my 2" frag I picked up last week! Is there a reason you didn't frag that out a thousand times, other than for the pain it would be?

The first shot was taken 26 of march 2005
The second shot was taken when I changed tank the 22 of april 2007, and the last yesterday.

In the meantime I did many and many frags, also of big dimension

I did it! All the people I know near my home had one or more frags...

So I had no more choice...

Whoa! Who knew such a cute little frag could turn into such a monster in just 3 years! Did you keep a frag of it just for fun?!
