Leopard Blenny

Exallias brevis

Numerous reddish-brown patches.

Size : 14 cm

Habitat : In coral-rich reefs, 0.3-20 m. Near short-branched coral such as Acropora and Pocilopora, feeds on their polyps. Shy; when disturbed, withdraws immediately into the protection of the coral branches. Male territorial, guards the eggs laid ant the coral base.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, Hawaii and French Polynesia.
