Lined Butterflyfish

Chaetodon lineolatus

Curved black band from middle of the back to the base of the anal fin.

Size : 30 cm

Habitat : Largest butterfly fish. In coral-rich lagoons and out reefs, 2 to more than 50 m (170 m). Alone or in pairs, claims large home territories. Predominantly feeds on coral polyps, anemone, small invertebrates and algae.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to S Japan, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
