Tiger Snake Eel

Myrichthys maculosus

Cream-coloured to yellowish with large black spots.

Size : 100 cm

Habitat : In bays, lagoons and outreefs, usually 0.3-30 m (one evidence of 262 m). Can be often observed at nigh, however also during the day in the open, on sandy surfaces and in seaweed patches. Feeds on fish and crustaceans.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, SE-Australia and French Polynesia.
