This 1958 Zundapp Citation underwent a refurbishment while under prior ownership, and it was acquired by the current owner in 2019. Finished in blue with gold pinstriping, the motorcycle is equipped with an Earles fork, a Denfeld saddle, a chrome headlight guard, 18″ wire wheels, and a center stand. Power is supplied by a 452cc parallel-twin mated to a four-speed transmission. This Zundapp is offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner with tool kit, brand literature, and transferable New York registration.
Based on the Horax Imperator and named after the 1948 Triple Crown-winning horse, the Citation was imported to the US through the Berliner Motors Corporation. This example was repainted during prior ownership in blue with gold pinstripes. The chrome fuel tank features black rubber knee grips and matching blue finish on top. Other details include a leading link Earles fork, a two-up Denfeld saddle, and a center stand.
Wire-spoked wheels measure 18″ and are fitted with a Dunlop tire up front and a Pirelli tire out back. Braking is handled by drum units front and rear.
The headlight nacelle features a chrome guard, a serif-script Bosch lens, and an integrated 140-mph VDO speedometer. The five-digit odometer indicates 16k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the current owner; true mileage is unknown.
The 452cc parallel-twin is equipped with a a pair of Bing carburetors and was rated at 39 horsepower when new. Power is transferred through a four-speed manual transmission and a chain drive.
