This 1973 Ford Gran Torino is a two-door hardtop example powered by a 351ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and it is finished in green-gold metallic over green cloth upholstery. Features include a black vinyl roof covering, chrome bumpers and trim, a dual exhaust system, American Racing Torq Thrust wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, and a Philco AM radio. The car spent time in Alabama before its acquisition by the selling dealer in 2022, and subsequent service consisted of changing the oil and transmission fluid as well as replacing the wheels, tires, a power-steering hose, the spark plugs, and the air filter. This Gran Torino is now offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, a recent receipt, and a clean California title.
The car was delivered new in Bright Green Gold Metallic (4B) and features chrome-finished bumpers, bright body moldings, and a black vinyl roof covering that extends to the pillars. Signs of age and wear are noted in the paint along with oxidation, hood fading, and other imperfections.
Gray American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are mounted with Hankook Kinergy ST tires, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs paired with rear drums. A power-steering hose was replaced in January 2023 along with the wheels and tires.
A split-folding front bench seat and rear bench are trimmed in green cloth and vinyl upholstery and complemented by green carpets and door panels. An embossed rubber liner covers the front footwells and transmission tunnel, and other appointments include three-point front belts and a Philco-branded AM radio. The air-conditioning system does not blow cold, and stains are noted in the front seat bottoms.
A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer, fuel and temperature gauges, and warning lights. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles, approximately 20 of which have been added by the selling dealer. True mileage is unknown.
The 351ci V8 is topped with a blue air-cleaner assembly and valve covers. In January 2023 the valve-cover and oil-pan gaskets were replaced along with the spark plugs and air filter, and the oil was changed.
The car received an FMX three-speed automatic transmission from the factory, and the transmission fluid was changed in January 2023. Corrosion is noted on underbody componentry, and additional photos of the underside are presented in the gallery below.
