This Saab 900 got away, but there are more like it here.

This 1993 Saab 900 Turbo hatchback is one of a reported 204 examples built for the European market to commemorate the final year of the body style that was introduced in 1978, and it is #31 of 70 imported by Saab France and given the name GT Aero. GT Aero equipment included a sport suspension, dark gray asymmetrical 15″ wheels, aerodynamic bodywork, and gray leather seats with patterned wool inserts. Power is provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transaxle and equipment includes air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, and an Alpine cassette stereo. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2019, and work under current ownership reportedly included repainting the exterior in black, replacing the headliner, headlights and taillights, shocks, ball joints, suspension bushings, right window motor, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, and rear exhaust components. This 900 GT Aero shows 347k kilometers (~216k miles) and is now offered in Saint Malo, France, by the seller on behalf of the owner with manufacturer’s literature and a registration certificate in the owner’s name.

GT Aero examples of the 900 featured aerodynamic lower bodywork and were finished in black (170) from the factory, and the seller notes a repaint was performed under current ownership. Exterior appointments include a forward-hinged hood, front and rear spoilers, headlight wipers, power-adjustable mirrors, and a power antenna.

Dark gray asymmetrical 15″ alloy wheels with silver rims wear 195/60 Goodyear Eagle Sport tires that were mounted under current ownership, according to the seller. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel antilock disc brakes. All GT Aeros were equipped with a lowered chassis and a sport suspension. The seller reports that the steering rack was replaced under previous ownership. Bilstein front and Sachs rear shocks were installed following the owner’s acquisition along with replacement ball joints and Powerflex shock bushings, sway bar bushings, and rear axle bushings.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in gray leather with patterned wool inserts that were designed by Ermenegildo Zegna. Amenities include air conditioning, power windows and locks, a locking glovebox, a fire extinguisher, and an Alpine cassette stereo. The air conditioning system is said to have been converted to function with R134a refrigerant, and the seller states that the headliner was repaired and the right window motor was replaced under current ownership. Cracks are visible in the dashboard.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 250-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, a clock, and supplementary gauges. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 347k kilometers (~216k miles), approximately 4,800 kilometers (~3k miles) of which were added under current ownership. The cruise control is inoperative and the auxiliary Jaeger gauges in the center stack are not connected.

The fuel-injected 2.0L inline-four features a Mitsubishi-sourced turbocharger and a “red box” Automatic Performance Control (APC) module. Work under current ownership reportedly included replacing the valve cover gasket and spark plugs in addition to fluid and filter changes.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The clutch and clutch hydraulics are said to have been replaced at approximately 269k kilometers. The seller notes that underbody coating was applied and the rear exhaust components were replaced under current ownership.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a country that does not issue titles for vehicles. It is being sold on its French registration and accompanied by a Procès-Verbal de Contrôl Technique (Technical Control Report), the latter of which shows a minor failure relating to the driver’s seat.
