Scissortail sergeant

A species of damselfish. Reaches 17 cm in length. Distributed across the Indo-Pacific. In Japan, from Shizuoka Prefecture southwards. It closely resembles the Indo-Pacific sergeant, however, the scissortail sergeant can be distinguished by the black band on both the top and bottom of its tail fin. Its ecology is also similar to the Indo-Pacific sergeant. Juveniles of both species sometimes school together. Both species are cared for in the aquarium, and in both species the male protects the eggs.
