Splendid garden eel

Distributed in the Ryukyu Islands, Philippines and Maldives. Reaches 38 cm in length, slightly smaller than the spotted garden eel. Its beautiful body is light orange with mottled white bands. It lives in holes in sandy areas on coral reef slopes exposed to currents. Typically, its head and upper body sticks out from the sand as they feed on prey that drifts through the water.
