This species of sole inhabits sandy areas of coral reefs. It has a flat body suitable for life on the sea floor.  It burrows its entire body except for its eyes under the sand so it can continue to look around. Pores of toxic glands are at the base of the dorsal, anal, and ventral fins. Image is of a juvenile fish.
