Habitat:
- Owls are found everywhere in the world except for Antarctica and some remote islands
- They can be found anywhere from deserts, rainforests, wide open spaces etc.
- Many do not create their own nests, but rather find nests that have been abandoned to live in
What they eat:
- Owls are birds of prey and are carnivorous
- The eat insects and small rodents like mice, rates and hares
- Some owls hunt fish
Method of eating:
- Low flying to help hunt prey
- They regurgitate the indigestible parts of their prey in little pellets
Physical Characteristics:
- Feathers with soft edges to allow silent flight
- Round face
- Sharp, hooked bill (beak)
- Large eyes
Behaviour:
- Most owls are nocturnal
- Owls have incredible hearing
- Fixed eyes allow for better focus
