Project for the film "National Drama" directed by Mirjana Karanović will participate in the 21st edition of the Co-Production Market of the prestigious film festival in Berlin (The Berlinale Co-Production Market), the production company "This and That Productions" announced earlier.
One of the most significant co-production events in the world will be held from February 17 to 21 as part of the 74th Berlin Film Festival, which takes place from February 15 to 25. The event is also attended by international producers, sales agents and fund representatives. The film project "National Drama" by the renowned actress and director Mirjana Karanović was selected among 34 projects out of a total of 318 applicants, from 27 countries, among which there are no other countries in the region...
The project "National Drama", based on the drama of the same name Olga Dimitrijevic, and it is created in the screenwriter's adaptation Bojan Vuletić. It brings the story of freedom and love in a conservative and patriarchal society.
"At the heart of the film is a love story between Anka, a young woman who was forced by her family to marry, and Branka, a folk singer with whom she falls in love," the short description states, and the official website of the Berlinale points out that this is one of film projects that they believe will generate a lot of interest...
"It is a great success to be selected as one of 34 projects from around the world at such a prestigious film market in Berlin. Every year we do not have a representative in the film program or the film industry at an A-category festival such as the Berlinale, which gives even greater importance to the selection of the 'People's Drama', which is still in the financing phase. In Berlin, we will have the opportunity to present the film project 'People's Drama' to relevant film professionals, co-producers and distributors from around the world and make significant film contacts", said the producer of the film. The project has so far received support from the Film Center of Serbia, the French National Center for Film and Moving Images, as well as support for the development of the Media subprogram of Creative Europe. The French producer is an Elzevir Films production.
"Participating in this market in Berlin puts our project in focus as one of the highest quality projects of this year's edition, and we hope that it will help us to close the financing as soon as possible. Considering that we are a country with limited financial possibilities, we are close to international co-productions and the inclusion of different cultures and experiences, which is extremely important for the theme of our project and can contribute to making this film a true celebration of freedom and acceptance," said Van Hauvelingen. .
