Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Schizothoracinae
Max. size:  52 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Afghanistan (Ref. 33323) and Pakistan (Ref. 51161) to Tibet. In India often lumped under Schizothorax richardsonii. The specimens from Tibet may be a separate species (Ref. 33323). Reported from Myanmar (Ref. 57739).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Feed on detritus material (Ref. 40974). Breed in streams (Ref. 40974).

Country info:  Found in Northern Areas (Ref. 51161). Occurs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (Ref. 40982), and Indus, Siran, Unar and Haro rivers (Ref. 41033). Also known from North West Frontier Province, northern Punjab and northeastern Balochistan (Ref. 52665). Common in Northern Areas and North West Frontier Province, and rare in Punjab and Balochistan (Ref. 57738). Also Ref. 40981.
