Stenopus hispidus
Originating in the Caribbean, Hawaii, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Sumatra, the Banded Coral Shrimp adds interest to this aquarium by flashing its bright red and white bands as it scampers around in the tank. This shrimp, although peaceful in nature toward fish, has large pinchers that it holds in a “boxer stance” so it looks like it is ready for a fight. It is, for that reason, also called the Boxing Shrimp. The Banded Coral Shrimp is a scavenger that eats about anything it can find on the aquarium floor.
