Placement

Pipe organ, long term, it a fairly easy coral to care for. It does requires a bit more attention than most other soft corals when it comes to placement, however, once established tubipora adds nice variety to an aquarium.

Pipe organ can collect algae on its base structure, preventing full extension of its poylps. When placing on the rock, find a medium to high flow area of your aquarium where algae cannot settle on the calcium base of the coral. Be sure to secure the coral to the rockwork as it can easily be moved in more turbid areas.

Feeding

This coral will thrive in a tank without feeding, given that there is good quality lighting. Pipe organ will accept smaller, particle sized, foods such as Reefroids or any smaller prepared foods.

Propagation

Tubipora is a slower growing soft coral therefore it does not often come up to the chopping block. If you do have the opportunity to frag a pipe coral, it is fairly easy. You can snap apart polyps at their calcium base and simply glue the frags elsewhere. You can propagate with your hands, bone cutters and many various other tools.
