1. UNICEF is part of the small team working on framework on gender responsive school reopening that is being developed by the gender flagship – we are sharing our resources and country examples of promising practices.
2. UNICEF is part of the reference group developing the campaign to get girls back to school – we are supporting the design, sharing our ideas and resources, and will be using our networks e.g. U-report, and the Generation Unlimited Initiative as applicable for dissemination and for soliciting ideas

Commitment
From the onset of the pandemic, UNICEF mobilized in-country teams and partners to support governments in delivering an education-system-wide response to urgently scale-up alternative learning measures. UNICEF, WHO and IFRC developed the Guidance on COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Schools. UNICEF supports utilization of a mix of approaches including digital and non-digital remote learning options appropriate to context and unique needs of learners. UNICEF’s Guidance on Equity and Inclusion in COVID-19 Education Response includes recommendations on inclusion of gender-responsive materials, integration of ethnic and linguistic minorities, a toolkit of good practices specific for girls, and tools for parents/caregivers to support remote learning for the most marginalized children. UNICEF, UNESCO, UNHCR, the World Bank and WFP developed the Framework for re-opening schools and have been supporting governments in the safe re-opening of schools. UNICEF is working with UNESCO, the World Bank and the Global Partnership for Education to ensure continuity of learning for all children through delivering at-scale new and existing learning continuity approaches in response to the COVID-19 crisis. UNICEF’s global communications campaign for safe school-reopening calls for every child to be included and learn, have access to school-based health, hygiene and nutrition services, and to be connected the internet.
