Two main types of roof storm damage

Wind Damage

High winds can produce devastating damages to your residential property. The challenge with wind damage is the shingles sometimes lay back down and look normal, but without proper inspection the roof can begin to leak in all parts of the house, then causing tremendous interior damages. Even if it just leaks in the attic space, you might not know until it is too late that you have storm damage. Then the mold and mildew can set in causing major health issues for you and your family. This is why regardless of if there has been a recent wind storm or not, it is always best to get a free inspection to make sure there are not any issues currently that can’t be seen from just the ground looking at the roof. Hail Damage

Hail damage on your roof can also be very deceiving. There are the obvious damages that can be seen, and also the damages that can happen over time from the past storms such as the slow progression of interior damages. The real challenge with hail damage whether it is severe hail damage or not, even minor hail damage causes the aging of your roof shingles to speed up because the hail hits so hard on the shingles it causes dents in them, as well as can cause dents in your valley metals, venting and other metals on the roof. Over time this can again cause hidden leaks which can eventually lead to larger repair expenses as well as health issues for you and your family. Hail damage on your roof also cannot always be seen from the ground so it is best to have Hohen Construction provide you a free inspection. Once we begin your roof repair

Once we begin repairing your roof, the first place our roofing crew starts is the tear off. As shown in this picture, quite frequently we running into multiple layers of roofs on a house (this one shows we are tearing off 3 layers), which if missed by your insurance adjuster, we would have to go back and bill for it at the end of the project completion due to the roofers getting paid for each layer of roof shingles the tear off each time.

Most insurance policies DO NOT cover pre-existing damage issues that happen over time such as  maintenance. But to provide your home the proper roofing system, we must replace any rotted wood areas in order to ensure the new roof system will last the duration that it is intended to for your home. The picture to the left shows when we run into such an issue, while the picture to the right shows on the edge where we have replaced a part of the plywood before putting down the ice and water shield barrier over it.

Your insurance scope of work might not only cover your full roof replacement but also some of these other areas we help repair as well:

  • gutters
  • window screens
  • siding
  • fences
  • interior repair
  • painting
  • and more
