Botter FW23: Toy Car Necklaces, 3D-Printed Reeboks and Upcycled Bicycle Bags?

What. A. Show.

Last season, Botter gave us a lot to think about and as it turns out, Fall/Winter 2023 is equally as intriguing.

Following on from the brand’s condom gloves from SS23, Botter took to Paris Fashion Week this season to bring its audience a showcase inspired by the culture of the Caribbean. Titled, VENUS COMB, MUREX SHELL, the collection seeks to explore the concept of identity through a tribute to the heritage of co-founder, Rushemy Botter — who was born in the Dutch-Caribbean island of Curaçao.

As with previous Botter collections, garments themselves offer a quiet simplicity, leaving the footwear and accessories plenty of room to play. The brand’s signature blue found its pairing in turquoise, emulating the color of the Caribbean sea, merged with delicate earthy tones which made up utility-inspired jackets and blazers. Elsewhere, the striking looks were completed by upcycled bicycle seat bags, which, when paraded down the runway, didn’t look entirely dissimilar to a d-ck?

Toy cars were hung around model’s necks, in a bid to inject an additional sense of playfulness, while footwear took the form of a partnership with Reebok. An evolution of Botter’s “Banker” shoe which debuted in 2017, the French label tapped the sportswear brand for a series of 3D printed concept sneakers. Drawing inspiration from the Murex seashell used by the Greek Goddess Venus, the modular silhouette paraded down the runway in luminous multi-colored hues.

Take a look at the collection above.
