Ocimum Basilicum Extract is a light to medium amber liquid with a characteristic odor derived from the whole plant of Sweet Basil, also called Common Basil.

In ancient India, Basil was considered to be sacred. Preparations containing Basil were used as a first-aid treatment to draw poison from poisonous insect stings and snake bites.

The leaves from the Basil were made into a tea that was supposed to help clear the head and relieve headaches, colds, and cough symptoms. People also used Basil as a tonic for sluggish skin.

Today, the aromatic green herb is commonly used in cooking. In skin care applications, Ocimum Basilicum Extract is used for its fragrant, toning, and soothing properties. Basil extract is used in creams, lotions, toners, and skin treatment products. In addition, Ocimum Basilicum Extract is also used in bath and hair care applications.
