Our 195-gallon saltwater tank has another new addition. We ordered a Spiny Box Puffer (Burrfish) by mail and it came on 8/8/23. I hope by the time you see this post that he made it!
Here are some photos of our new Puffer. We have had two others before him with blue eyes. He looks like a little Tasmanian Devil with his horns and spikes. He is absolutely adorable! Check him out. The last two puffers we had lived a long tine and grew quite large.
They are very active and fascinating to watch. They love to eat clams, shrimp, and krill.
Here is a video of Puffer swimming around as the other fish kept their distance but also watched him with curiosity.
We will keep a close watch on Puffer to make sure he is doing well. We may order more fish from this mail order service since this first order was successful. Some fish are not available in the pet stores for purchase and one has to order them online as we did this time instead of waiting for the fish to get to the store then go there to pick them up. We cut out one stop for this fish. Each time they are lifted out of a bag and scooped up and placed into a tank causes them to become anxious. Puffer appears to love being here so far. I guess our large tank is a lot better than the small dark bag he had to live in for many hours.
Thank you for stopping by to read this post. I hope you enjoyed seeing Puffer the Burrfish and learning more about him in his new home.

What a great addition!! He is adorable. I hope he survives. xo
Me too, Darlene! We named him Raymond Burrfish! Ray for short! 🤣
Thank you, Annette! He seems happy so far! 🤞
What a cool name. Raymond Burr was raised near where I lived in Canada and I have been to his home (which is now a museum). May Ray live a long and happy life.
Thank you. I didn’t know that Raymond Burr was from Canada. I loved watching him. I wanted to give this puffer a different name and it fits him. He is an adorable fish. I hope Ray does live a long and happy life too. Hugs x
Welcome to Puffer! ❤
Raymond Burr was born in Canada but lived in the US for a long time. He had an interesting life. Here is some info if you are interested. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raymond_Burr
I think he would be pleased that you named your puffer fish after him. xo
Thank you, Darlene! I will check it out. Hugs x
