Former Idaho hoops standout Mikayla Ferenz hired to Whitman coaching staff

A former Idaho women's basketball standout has been named assistant coach at Whitman College.

Tuesday morning the college announced splash sister Mikayla Ferenz would join the staff....

Her mother Michelle has been the head coach since 2001, totaling over 300 career wins. Her father also serves as an assistant coach.

With the Vandals, Ferenz was a three-time all-conference selection and was named Big Sky Player of the Pear as a senior.

She finished her college career as the Big Sky's all-time leading scorer with 2,466 career points.

After graduating, she played overseas for the b-c muscle pikes in the Luxembourg Total League, where she averaged 16.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists through the first five games... Before the season was paused due to COVID-19. She will return to the club when the league restarts in early spring.

The Whitman Blues begin their season on January 22nd.
