Zusammenfassung

Das Peniskarzinom ist überwiegend ein aggressives Plattenepithelkarzinom mit einer relativ geringen Inzidenz in Europa und Nordamerika. Es handelt sich zwar um einen relativ langsam wachsenden Tumor, der aber im systemisch metastasierten Stadium nicht heilbar ist. Aufgrund der geringen Inzidenz ist die Studienlage unzureichend. Nicht selten wird eine Diagnose aufgrund von Patientenfaktoren erst in fortgeschrittenen Stadien gestellt. Der Mangel an Evidenz führt häufig zu individuellen Therapieversuchen mit schlechtem Ausgang. In den letzten Jahren hat das wissenschaftliche Interesse am Peniskarzinom zugenommen, durch Zentralisierung der Behandlung in einigen Ländern (Großbritannien, Niederlande) gelingt es auch zunehmend, große Behandlungsserien für die Verbesserung der Datenlage zu generieren. Dadurch konnte die Behandlung verbessert werden. Organerhalt mit plastischer Rekonstruktion und multimodale Therapiekonzepte setzen sich zunehmend durch. In Deutschland gibt es ein Peniskarzinomregister und ein Zweitmeinungszentrum, mit dem Ziel, die Behandlungsergebnisse zu verbessern.
