Zusammenfassung

Die Erkrankungen des Ovars im Säuglings-, Kindes- und Jugendalter sind fast immer Zysten oder solide Raumforderungen verschiedener Dignität. Ovarialzysten sind häufige sonografische Zufallsbefunde und treten hauptsächlich in der Perinatalperiode und während oder nach der Pubertät auf. Bei Säuglingen und Kleinkindern sind die Ovarien noch in der Bauchhöhle und wandern erst in der Pubertät in das kleine Becken. Seit ihrer Erstbeschreibung vor >40 Jahren (Valenti et al. 1975) sind Ovarialzysten die am häufigsten diagnostizierten zystischen Abdominaltumoren und ihr Management ist bis heute teilweise kontrovers. Da die klinischen Charakteristika und das Management je nach Altersgruppe verschieden sind, werden sie separat dargestellt.
