Zusammenfassung
Epileptische Anfälle können sich in sehr variabler Weise klinisch manifestieren. Frühere Unterteilungen in Grand mal vs. Petit mal wurden durch zunehmend detailliertere Klassifikationen abgelöst. Ausgehend von einer grundlegenden Einteilung von Gastaut (1969) haben Kommissionen der Internationalen Liga gegen Epilepsie (ILAE) mehrfache Überarbeitungen vorgenommen. Die seit 1981 gebräuchliche Klassifikation der ILAE (Commission..., 1981) wurde 2017 insbesondere bei fokal beginnenden Anfälle wesentlich um semiologische Aspekte erweitert. Die Einführung von Subkategorien von Anfällen basierend auf dem ersten semiologischen Zeichen hängt kritisch von der Genauigkeit der Beobachtung und Dokumentation der Anfälle ab.
