Zusammenfassung
Die Häufigkeit der Harnsteinerkrankung und die hohe Rezidivrate einiger Steinarten erfordern neben der interventionellen Therapie eine Prophylaxebehandlung. Da nicht alle Steinpatienten zur Rezidivsteinbildung neigen, erfolgt zunächst durch eine Basisdiagnostik die Identifikation von Risikopatienten. Während Patienten mit einem niedrigen Rezidivrisiko allgemeine Ernährungs- und Verhaltensempfehlungen erhalten, wird bei Hochrisikopatienten eine erweiterte metabolische Diagnostik zur Abklärung der zugrunde liegenden Stoffwechselstörung durchgeführt. Auf dieser Grundlage kann anschließend eine medikamentöse Prophylaxebehandlung eingeleitet werden, welche abhängig von der Patientencompliance die Steinbildungsfrequenz signifikant senken kann. Dies ist nicht zuletzt in Zeiten hohen ökonomischen Drucks erstrebenswert, da eine Reduktion der Steinereignisse die Häufigkeit notwendiger urologischer Interventionen senkt.
