Die Anatomie des Atembewegungsapparats ist komplex und beinhaltet nicht nur obere und untere Atemwege und Lunge, sondern ebenfalls die Pleura, den Thorax und die neuromuskulären Strukturen, welche für die Atempumpfunktion notwendig sind. Im Folgenden werden Grundlagen der Anatomie und Biomechanik des Atembewegungsapparates erläutert.
