Zusammenfassung

Die in den folgenden Abschn. 4.2 bis 4.4 dargestellten Parasitengruppen werden generell als Helminthen (= Würmer) zusammengefasst, obwohl sie außer einem mehr oder minder wurmförmigen Aussehen kaum Gemeinsamkeiten im Bauplan oder etwa in der Reaktion auf Chemotherapeutika haben. Sie unterscheiden sich jedoch von den Protozoen (Kap. 3) durch die bei den meisten Arten fehlende unmittelbare Vermehrung im Endwirt. So entwickeln sich in der Regel nur so viele adulte Parasiten im Endwirt, wie Larven in ihn gelangen.
