Walking from our hotel in Old Town we wanted a restaurant in Cologne for locals and we found it at Domibiikaner. The bar was full of regulars and while many diners may have been tourists, it was a local experience. Our waiter was a bit frazzled working by himself on a Friday night but our beers came quickly, he explained the menu to us, and brought the food relatively fast. They were out of some of the menu items but the specials on menu are their ghoulash items with meat from the nearby forest (deer, cervine, beef). And we were very happy with our ghoulash and spatzel.

Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jim S.Phoenix, AZ49113711Jul 29, 2018
Love the location and the old town feel you get when walking in and ordering from the bar. Loved the burgers that are served with mustard. This was my second visit back and will be on all future trips to the cathedral area of Cologne.

Not a bad place for traditional German food. We were there on a busy night and our food took awhile. My cheese spätzle was a little cold by the time it arrived. My dining companion had a pork dish that he said was quite tasty. I would recommend if you want a casual place and hearty fare. It was described as a gastro-pub, which to me connotes higher end food. I would not have used that term to describe the Dominikaner.
