UNDECILLION!
Do you know what that is?
As I was going over my notes for a CCNA Exam and I came across this incredible word - Undecillion — That is a 1 followed by 36 zeros! That is a colossal number!
The reason I came across that number is that in 2020 the internet ran out of IPv4 addresses. There were a total of 4 billion IPv4 addresses available for use on the internet and because we ran out a new technology was invented to replace it. This is IPv6.
IPv6 has a total of 340 undecillion unique addresses available for use. So yes… even with the advent of the internet of things (IoT) and all of the internet-connected devices we can ever imagine we will not run out of IPv6 addresses ever.
