David Garrett, who was enrolled the Guinness Book of World Records in 2008 as the fastest violinist in the world, worked with esteemed virtuosos such as Ida Haendel and Itzhak Perlman at an early age, and his musical story is the subject of today's blog post. Let's get to know about this virtuoso who works wonderful with his violin.

Born in 1980 in Aachen, Germany, David Garrett became acquainted with the violin when he was only four years old and took possession of the violin his father bought for his older brother. Learning to play the violin in a short period of almost 1 year, Garrett started to take lessons at Lübeck Academy of Music and started to give recitals at the age of 7. David started working with Polish violin virtuoso Ida Haendel when he was 12 years old and started his musical adventure on 2 cd recordings and various television programs as a guest.

Garrett started playing “Golden Age" and "San Lorenzo" violins of the famous luthier Stradivarius in the same year and became the youngest artist to have a contract with the famous record label Deutsche Grammophon.

In 1994, when he was 17 years old, David performed at concerts in Mumbai and Delhi as part of the 50th anniversary of India's independence with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra led by renowned conductor Zubin Mehta. After leaving his home in the same year and continuing his education at the Royal College of Music in London, he returned to New York in 1999 and continued his education at The Juilliard School, where he also had the opportunity to study with the renowned violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman.

In 2007, perhaps one of the most unfortunate events a musician can experience, David was walking with his 1772 Guadagnini violin before the Barbican concert in London, when he tripped on the stage and fell on his violin, and after the violin was broken, this event was talked about for a long time in the music world.

When we look at his musical career, we can say that Garrett is best loved by the covers he made for popular songs and that he reached out to an audience with the exception of classical music lovers. The artist whose childhood records are also available on the official website has many covers such as Michael Jackson's legendary song ‘Smooth Criminal,‘ and ‘He is a Pirate’, the unforgettable song of Pirate of the Caribbean; Metallica's cover ‘Nothing Else Matters song’ and Coldplay's ‘Viva La Vida’.
