There are several tombs of marabouts near the Aglou Beach. The word “marabout” means “saint” in the Berber langage. A marabout is a Muslim religious leader in West Africa, specifically in Morocco. Typically the marabout is a Quranic scholar.
Oftentimes, people will visit the tomb of a marabout to spend time in spiritual reflection. This is usually informal, and not viewed as a formal pilgrimage.
