Shia LaBeouf is ready to make his side hustle more of a priority.
A source close to LaBeouf told Page Six that he wants to focus on teaching full-time and make acting more of a secondary career.
“Given everything he’s been through, it’s a great change of pace for him,” the insider said. “A sense of normalcy.”
The “Honey Boy” star, 32, opened the Slauson R.C. Theater School in Los Angeles in September 2018. He announced the news in a Twitter video.
“You don’t have to be an actor. You don’t have to ever have thought about being an actor. You do, however, have to have a story that you’re willing to share,” he said. “All I ask of you is that you show up and stay for one hour. If you don’t like it, leave. If you do like it, I’ll be there next Saturday. I’ll be there every Saturday at 9 a.m. building s–t with whoever shows up. I’m trying to change the world. If you are too, let’s get it. Bang.”
He opened it alongside Bobby Soto, Shelley Mitchell and Nicole Griffin.
LaBeouf, who’s now dating FKA Twigs, currently has two movies in post-production: “The Peanut Butter Falcon” and “The Tax Collector.” Beyond that there doesn’t appear to be anything on his radar, so he’ll have the time to focus on teaching.
A rep for LaBeouf didn’t return our request for comment.
The “Transformers” star’s behavior has been highly publicized in recent years, including a 2017 arrest for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and obstruction in Georgia.
He’s also put on art exhibitions that saw him sitting in a movie theater for 24 hours where he watched his own movies and livestreamed it, as well as sitting in a warehouse space in Los Angeles with a bag over his head as people came through to see him.
He also hosted an anti-Donald Trump art exhibit that was forced to shut down following its move from Queens to New Mexico after gunshots were heard in the area.
