According to a 2019 interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, the pair met while working on set for a TV show, and sparks started to fly almost immediately. Even though Smith claims to be smitten with the Saved By The Bell starlet, he insisted that Thiessen actually made the first move. Admittedly, Smith arranged their first date, but Thiessen took it from there. “Obviously I wanted to kiss her, but I wasn’t gonna be that dude that tries to kiss on the first date. In an interview with The Jason Wright Show, Smith revealed that before moving to Los Angeles, he started an illustration and design company called Brady Smith Creative in Houston, Texas. Thiessen wore a French lace gown by Vera Wang, and Smith was fully clad in Kenneth Cole. Their garden ceremony was small and intimate, full of close friends and family. Inspiration for the book came from the couple’s real life, when Thiessen noticed that her husband was spending too much time focused on his phone rather than their children. "That's a conversation that's probably very much in the forefront in many households these days, and it's definitely been one of ours," Thiessen told USA Today in 2019.
