L264, Sultan Pleco

Post by Nimitz »

Hello.

I want to ask what everybodys personal experience is with this catfish. How they are against other fish, agressive or they dont care, how big they really get (cos i heard they grow bigger than the 15cm they say here), they leave the plants alone, do i see them alot with big cichlids (Acarichthys Heckelii), etc etc etc

I hope you can tell me.

Here a picture of one my Heckelii's (they are an 13cm or something)

Thnx alot.

Hi Nimitz,

you appear to have posted in the wrong forum. You should repost in 'plecos et al'. As far as your question, I do not have info on these fish, I read your question out of similar interest;-)

cheers

I'm sure they may get bigger in the wild, but the biggest mine ever got were about 15 -16 cm, but it died after 2 years so I'm not sure if it was full grown or not. I currently have some juvies growing out in 2 different tanks so I'll know in a couple of years. :D

They are fairly shy, but good eaters. I've never seen any aggression except towards others of the same species or very similarly coloured sized and coloured plecos.

@balken89 thnx for your answer. My experience is that not all the fish are the same :)

@2wheelsx2 thnx for your answer. So maybe they grow bigger? A forummer on our forum also has eggs from the L264. I want to buy from this guy a group of 5 L264's, or isnt that a good idea?

They certainly could, but I can't imagine much bigger than 7" at all. I've got a group of 5 in a 20 gallon growing out now. But they are 3 cm. :D

An awesome pleco that can be a little aggressive. Mine were also very good eaters. I also had them with very large cichlids with no problems.

16cm, 15cm, 14cm, the biggest is the boss of the tank. L 264 is very aggressive with L 240 ( probably because L 240 is only 16 cm :-?? )dimension of my tank is 150 x 70 x 50
