Another name for the organism that was used as the template for the True Ancestors. Also known as the Crimson Moon Brunestud.
After he vanished, individuals close to him in power started being honored with the title of Brunestud.
However, in the long history of the True Ancestors, only two have ever received the name.
So way back when Earth created True Ancestors as a self-defense mechanism this “Crimson Moon” was the template…
Yup, there’s quite a bit to add to this entry. Crimson Moon is considered one of the Dead Apostle Ancestors, Zelretch once fought it and led to its destruction but even then Crimson Moon left behind a reality marble, with the right conditions Crimson Moon might be able to manifest itself again by using a powerful vessel with a connection to him, and Arcueid has Brunestud as a title…
Arcueid’s familiar. A succubus. Normally found hanging around Arcueid in the form of a black cat.
A guest heroine in Kagetsu Tohya, she was the one responsible for creating the eternally looping day. She is a succubus that can enter other people’s dreams, and due to various events is currently living at both the Tohno mansion and Arcueid’s apartment.
In short, Arcueid is her contractual master, while Shiki is the master she chose herself.
Though at first it may seem that she is unable to speak, her voice box is intact and she can understand human language. Apparently she has simply decided not to talk for some reason.
Appropriately she’s very cat-like: she likes spending her time alone quietly, but she can be haughty, fickle and prone to bursts of attention-seeking craziness.
Suddenly I feel very self-conscious…
One of the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors. Alias, Chaos. He uses all the creatures of the earth as familiars. Because of the fact that he is preserving even extinct species, he is also sometimes called Dr. Beast.
Though he had no business in Japan, he was selected as the executor of the True Ancestor hunt proposed by the White Wing Lord, and followed Arcueid to the island nation in order to defeat her.
Dead Apostles who can measure their lives in millennia require a colossal amount of energy. This has nothing to do with their strength – it is merely the compensation required to maintain such a long-lived existence.
Because he is one of these millennium-class Dead Apostles himself, Nrvnqsr’s appetite is voracious. It took devouring every single person in a ten story hotel just to satisfy him.
The factors of 666 beasts are swirling around within his body, but it’s probably alright just to think of it as him being equipped with 666 familiars. Because this is essentially like having 666 lives, properly speaking he’s a Dead Apostle that even a serious Arcueid wouldn’t be able to kill.
As one who became a Dead Apostle through sorcery, he has absolutely no interest in territory or building a faction. The only thing he cares about is completing his thesis.
When he was still a human, his name was Fabro Rowan.
He was a magus hailing from the Wandering Tomb, located in the northern Sea of Estray, one of the three main branches of the Association.
The White Wing Lord is the “representative” of the 27 DAAs, so killing Arcueid was pretty much a mission from the group members that don’t side with humanity. By the way, Nrvnqsr is said the same a “Nero”.
That last bit saved me some confusion! Maintaining 666 familiars must require some energy on top of the usual from being a millennial Dead Apostle, it took a whole 10 story hotel worth of people for that guy to be satisfied…
Keeping all his familiars within his own body sure is a handy way to carry them around though.
The protagonist of Tsukihime. He is an extraordinarily ordinary young man who possesses the mystic eyes of death perception.
Eight years ago (nine years ago counting from Melty Blood), he received a massive chest wound in a traffic accident, but miraculously revived. After recovering, however, he developed chronic anemia, and so was sent to live with the Arima family by his father Makihisa.
He is the kind of character that makes both friends and enemies without realizing it.
Because he lived true to his promise with Aozaki Aoko to “become a man in the manner he thinks is right”, he developed into a good and upright person. Perhaps because of his ability to see death all around him, he has a comparatively farsighted view of things. No matter what happens, he just takes it in stride. Que sera, sera.
A peculiar type of superhero who’s basically benign, but if you approach him with the intent to cause him harm he’ll destroy you.
He has the ability to see Lines of Death, just like Ryougi.
So the two have the same ability?
Well, he perceives them a bit differently, we’ll see an entry about his ability for more details.

Tsukihime
Dictionary
The
(fake) amber magician. A mysterious hooded girl.
Her
slogan is “Chemical! Magical! Medical!”
She appears
as the guardian of the safe in Kagetsu Tohya, and also shows up while playing as
Kohaku in Melty Blood. Ah, could there be some sort of connection between the
two…!?
…In truth,
she’s a broom girl, not a magical girl, but that’s neither here nor there.
Day
after day, she throws herself into the manufacture of strange and suspicious
drugs. She is a staff officer in the Tohno Mansion Basement Kingdom.
…Somehow,
she seems like an even better fit for the Tatari than Sion, but the less said
about that the better.
Though she has no ties to Japan herself, she came to Misaki in pursuit of a certain vampire.
She is a True Ancestor, born in the 12th Century for the sole purpose of hunting those True Ancestors that had fallen and become demon lords. She was originally an existence with no use for emotions, but after meeting Tohno Shiki her state of mind changed dramatically. It’s similar to a broken machine that just isn’t quite the same when you put it back together, probably. (Of course, that’s leaving aside the question of whether or not she gained a new function or lost an old one…)
At any rate, the pure and noble vampire princess was, through some mistake, reborn as a carefree, airheaded funny vamp.
As the bastard child of the planet, her powers are totally ridiculous. Even sunlight just makes her feel a little listless, and the source of her energy supply is the earth itself.
She’s been mentioned a few times already in this blog!
Out of the Tsukihime heroines Arcueid is probably the one with the most publicity, and as far as the setting goes she’s definitely one of the strongest characters.
Refers to the descendants of humans who consorted with something “inhuman” in the distant past. Tohno Akiha and Kishima Kouma fall under this classification.
Though their blood is growing thinner with each successive generation, on rare occasions a child is born who has strongly inherited that “inhuman” characteristic.
As for Tohno Akiha, her blood is primarily human, but what inhuman blood she does have is exceptionally high class. Because of this, she could be considered the answer to the demon hybrids’ evolution, capable of awakening as a demon hybrid while still remaining a human being.
Kouma, on the other hand, is an archetypical demon hybrid whose oni blood runs too thick, making life as a human completely impossible.
The demon hybrids this entry refers to aren’t exactly the kind the Church tends to chase around, since they are descended from oni rather than Dead Apostles. That said if Akiha Tohno or Kouma Kishima were a danger to society and the Church knew about it they’d still be pursued by an agent as per regulations…
What abilities do demon hybrids have?
That depends on the lineage and the thickness of the blood, but manipulation of blood or stealing lifeforce are among abilities found in demon hybrids.
A demon hybrid
with Herculean strength. He is a descendent of the oni that once inhabited Japan,
but whose numbers fell hand in hand with the expansion of civilization, until
they finally went extinct.
With
grip strength powerful enough crush enormous trees in his hands, inborn
agility, and strange oni powers, he annihilates his enemies without mercy.
Truly, he is an oni emblematic of scorching heat and burning flames.
Though
the Kishima are one of the numerous Tohno branch families, they have long since
fallen into decline.
As far
as Kouma was concerned, it would have been fine if he just quietly faded into
obscurity in his forest den, letting the line die out for good. However, he was
called out by Tohno Makihisa to be the Tohno’s trump card against the Nanaya, a
role which he fulfilled perfectly.
The
Nanaya family was completely wiped out.
For Tohno
Shiki, who subconsciously remembers the scenes of devastation from that time, Kouma
has become a nigh insurmountable image of death.
Kouma himself,
however, is a tranquil character, similar to a mountain ascetic aiming for
enlightenment in order to find meaning in his own existence.
This guy
is actually powerful enough to fight against a servant.
An upperclassman at Shiki’s school. Due to her gentle, polite speech, the way she always lends a helping hand to those in need, and her ability to comfort those in grief, everybody at school considers her a person of integrity even more reliable than the teachers.
In reality, she is an executor sent by the Church to stamp out heresy, and a member of the organization known as the Burial Agency.
She possesses combat ability specialized for fighting vampires, and her own potential also exceeds the realm of humans.
However, she is not a mere brute – her skills as an intelligence agent are quite high as well. For instance, she can implant suggestions using sorcery. It’s because of this that nobody around her gave the name Ciel (which by all rights should have raised some eyebrows) a second thought.
Though she came to Misaki hunting a certain Dead Apostle, once there she encountered an even bigger prize: Arcueid Brunestud. As Arcueid’s ally, Shiki should have been her enemy, but they nevertheless became friends.
Also, she’s such a huge curry lover that she’d be happy eating nothing but curry rice with curry udon for lunch every single day. Ever since coming to Misaki, the Indian Curry House Messiaen has become something of an oasis for her.
There’s a lot of entries related to Ciel so we’ll find out a lot about her.
She seems pretty nice.
She’s pretty nice to her allies, to her enemies… not so much.
A member of the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors. One who tried to embody eternity not as a living being, but as a phenomenon. Tatari.
A Dead Apostle with the unique ability to converge upon rumors in a region and materialize them for a single night. Because it takes the form of what the people fear the most, they can neither defeat it nor escape it. The “Night of Wallachia” specifically refers to the reality marble that shuts away a town in that horror movie-like world.
When he was still a normal Dead Apostle, his name was Zepia Eltnam Oberon. Even after inheriting the position of number thirteen among the Dead Apostle Ancestors, he yearned for still more power, and became the phenomenon “Tatari”.
Of course, that was nothing more than a means to an end – his true objective lay elsewhere. Unfortunately, though, he was unable to accomplish it, and he drifted through the world as the Tatari to the bitter end.
So Sion’s ancestor became a Dead Apostle, then a DAA phenomenon, and because of that he couldn’t accomplish his objective despite the “eternity” he gained… Also, “reality marble” popped up again, it’s something like a “Marble Phantasm”, right?
Yeah, for now think of it as an area where the user replaces or changes reality with a landscape resembling its own mind, in Tatari’s case his Reality Marble affects a town or city with its people based on rumors, and allows rumors as well as Tatari to materialize themselves.
