How To Make Jalebi Recipe

A sweet and crunchy dessert made from fermented batter, fried and soaked in sugar syrup.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp gram flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, gram flour, baking powder and turmeric powder.

  2. Add yogurt and warm water to make a thick batter. Cover and keep aside for 2 hours.

  3. Heat oil in a pan. Put batter in a piping bag or a ziplock bag and snip off a small end. Squeeze out swirls of batter into the hot oil and fry till golden brown.

  4. Heat sugar, water and cardamom powder in another pan until a syrup forms. Remove from heat and keep warm.

  5. Soak the fried jalebis in the warm syrup for a few minutes. Serve hot or cold.
