In the not-too-distant future, America has lost the war on drugs. Narcotics agent Bob Arctor (Keanu Reeves) goes undercover to hunt down a lead to the source of supply of Substance D – also known as Death – a pervasive and highly dangerous new street drug that causes hallucinations and brain damage. But to pass as an addict, Arctor must first become a user, and his covert mission soon begins to take a toll on his sanity…

The film will be preceded by a talk from Dr Caroline Brennan, senior lecturer in Biological and Chemical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London, who will introduce the world of zebrafish genetics and indicate how fish can give us an insight into the neural basis of addiction.
