Aquarium Conditioned Janss' Pipefish

This is for a single captive bred Janss' Pipefish, Doryrhamphus janssi.

Size: ~2.5-4+ inches, reach up to 5.5 inches as adults. 

We are super excited to offer Janss' pipefish!!! This species is not commonly available and a very unique flagtail reef pipefish species. Please read care information below:

We are currently feeding them frozen Mysis shrimp and live enriched Artemia and Artemia nauplii. In an established aquarium they will also graze on copepods. They can be kept single or paired. Our  Janss' pipefish tend to not show aggression to their own kind when added to the aquarium at the same time. If you plan on having them in their own aquarium a 20 gallon minimum aquarium size is recommended, larger is even better. Their body is often a bright orange coloration in the center and dark or dark blue color head and back end. Individuals vary. They are a moderate sized pipefish species. This species is a strong swimmer and will swim in the open and around the rockwork in the aquarium. They rarely swim near the substrate. They can be kept with our captive bred seahorses.

Our Aquarium Conditioned fish are quarantined and observed at our aquaculture facility before offered for sale. We prophylactically deworm all our fish as well as run an anti-parasitic treatment on all of our fish.

We keep them at the same temperature and water parameters as our H. erectus seahorses. We recommend 70-74 F if kept with our captive bred seahorses but they can be kept up to 78-80 F in an aquarium.

NOTE: This species can be kept with our captive bred seahorses. Janss' pipefish are narrow bodied so make sure they will not go through your overflows on your aquarium!
