Diet: These corals have zooxanthellae which provide much of their nutrition. It is believed they also feed on microzooplankton and directly absorb some nutrients from the water.
Natural History: Greeneye Cup Coral produce prominant corallites from a cup-shaped skeleton. At night, feeding tentacles, as well as sweepers, emerge from the corallites. Colors range from brown and gray to green. They are found in a variety of reef zones and are tolerant of a variety of reef conditions.
Husbandry: Greeneye Cup Coral prefers high light and medium water flow. It has potent feeding tentacles that it extends at night and can damage nearby corals that are placed too close, especially within 2 inches. It is reported to thrive best when placed on a vertical surface, similar to where they are normally found on a reef. It is considered a hardy reef coral and an excellent captive-reef specimen.
