Natural History: The Barred Serrano Basslet is found on reefs with rock and coral substrate. It is a diurnal species, hunting prey near the substrate.
Husbandry: The Barred Serrano Basslet is considered a hardy aquarium species. It should be housed with peaceful tankmates and plenty of hiding places. If more than one Barred Serrano Basslet is to be housed in the same aquarium, all individuals should be introduced at the same time. It will likely feed on smaller fish and crustaceans in a reef system.
Reproduction: This species is a simultaneous hermaphrodite, with both male and female sex organs. Most individuals exhibit both sexual roles in a mating season.
