Chaetodon rafflesii

Chaetodon rafflesii, commonly known as the Latticed butterflyfish, is a medium-sized butterflyfish. Their body is bright yellow with a black vertical stripe through the eye which seems to flow all the way through the dorsal fin into the caudal and anal fin. On their body, they've a brownish/orangish lattice pattern which becomes smaller in the fins and make the fins appear orangish.

These fish are quite peaceful to most other fish, but might haress similar looking fish. They live mostly in pairs in coral rich areas. In an aquarium they can best be kept alone unless a proven pair can be found. They're real omnivores feeding on all sorts of worms and algae, but they're also facultative corallivores, meaning they do eat but don't need corals. This species is however known for eating quite a large amount of anemones, soft and stony corals. This makes them not really suitable for most reef tanks though, but a perfect pick for a fish-only tank! Feed them a varied diet of live and frozen meaty foods and make sure you supplement this with a good quality algae based flake and/or pellet food to make them really happy!
