Cyprinocirrhites polyactis
Cyprinocirrhites polyactis, commonly known as the Swallowtail hawkfish, is a medium-sized hawkfish, which looks a bit like an Anthias. Their base ranges from salmon-pink via orange to red. Spots/blotches vary with each individual. The first few dorsal fin spines have tiny hairs on them called 'cirri'.
Like their un-hawkfish appearance, they als don't behave like a typical hawkfish. They hover usually a few meters above the bottom, feeding on large zooplankton like copepods. On the bottom they often hide between sponges. They're not shy at all and will eat about any meaty food (preferable crustaceans like mysis, gammarus and copepods) you offer. They can even be hand-fed after a short while in the tank. They're reef safe but watch out with small shrimps!
