The Blue Sea Star (Linckia Laevigata), also known as the Blue Linkia or Blue Star is a species of Sea Star that is native to the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean, Central Pacific Ocean, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Fun Fact

The Blue Sea Star has a unique ability to regenerate arms if they are damaged or lost. The starfish can shed an arm when attacked by predators.

Habitat

The Blue Sea Star lives in shallow coastal waters in coral reefs and rocky surfaces. This specific Sea Star is native to the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean, Central Pacific Ocean, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Diet

The Blue Linckia is a scavenger, feeding on both dead plant and animal scraps.

Appearance

The Blue Sea Star has five arms and can grow to 20-30cm in diameter, but can be known to grow up to 40cm in diameter.
