After he was left out of her Grammys acceptance speech, Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus’ family feud has never seemed more apparent. But this hasn’t stopped Miley’s dad from trying to make amends.

According to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, Miley’s dad Billy Ray has made an attempt to reach out to her since her Grammys win. The “Flowers” singer took home two Grammy Awards at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on February 4, 2024. During her acceptance speech, she thanked her mother Tish Cyrus, her sister Brandi, and her “love” Maxx Morando, but noticeably failed to mention her father. Still, this hasn’t stopped Billy Ray from “reaching out” to his daughter.

“He’s tried reaching out to Miley many times and congratulated her on her Grammys,” the source shared with the outlet, noting that Miley and her siblings have “chosen sides” following their parents’ divorce, “but friends are hoping the rift doesn’t last forever.”

The Cyrus family started to spark speculation about a potential feud following Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus’ divorce in 2022. The pair, who got married in 1993, are no longer on speaking terms, according to Us Weekly’s source. “There’s nothing left to say, and they both harbor resentment,” the insider shared. The rumored tensions within the Cyrus family only seemed to escalate after Miley’s mother got remarried to Dominic Purcell in August 2023. Miley and her older siblings, Trace and Brandi, were both in attendance at the ceremony. Meanwhile, Miley’s little sister Noah and brother Braison were noticeably absent from the nuptials.

According to a second insider who spoke to Us Weekly, Noah and Braison were both invited to Tish’s wedding—but they “opted not to go.” The source shared, “It’s no secret neither of them approves of Dominic, and that’s created tension with their mom,” Meanwhile, the first source noted that “Miley’s very close with her mom and is standing by her,” claiming that “Miley and Billy Ray are on the outs.”

The insider explained, “The family dynamics haven’t been the same since the divorce, and now that Tish and Billy Ray are with other people, there’s even more division among them all.” Billy Ray, for his part, went on to marry Australian singer Firerose in October 2023, just weeks after his ex-wife’s nuptials. The pair, who met over a decade ago on the set of Hannah Montana, have a 28-year age gap.

A third source who spoke to Us Weekly went on to express that Miley and Billy Ray’s feud boils down to “disrespect.” The insider claimed, “Miley hasn’t gotten over the disrespect she feels Billy Ray showed Tish and the family.”

As for Miley’s mom, Tish has also referred to the “disrespect” she faced during her 30-year marriage to Billy Ray. “Disrespect just lays it out in so many ways. I [didn’t] even know — until I had a new relationship [where] there was so much respect — how much disrespect there was in my marriage before,” Tish said during an episode of the “Call Her Daddy podcast,” which aired on February 7, 2024. “Honestly, on both our parts.”

While Tish has been able to own up to her role in her divorce, it appears Miley’s allegiances are with her mom and Billy Ray may need to keep “reaching out” to mend their relationship—but as far as we know, for now, their feud continues.
