yes, really!

The story of Andre the Giant taking an actual s*** on Hulk Hogan during in a match in WWE to prove a point

Wrestling has evolved a lot over the years and today, very few people believe it to be real.

Of course, children will until a certain age, but otherwise the lid has been lifted on the business and we'e all well aware of what's playing out in front of us.

Back in the 1980s and even into the 90s, that wasn't always the case.

The business was fiercely protected by the performers in it. A bad guy is a heel and a good guy is a babyface and you would never, ever see them mix outside of a show in public.

They would keep up the perception they hated each other and if they had a broken bone in a storyline, you better believe they'd be wearing a cast in public when they were actually perfectly healthy.

It was all apart of the illusion that wrestling was real and that's a formula which worked for decades. Japan even took it a step further where they had shoot wrestling matches that involved real pain and holds, only with the finishes figured out.

Two men who embodied the business in the 80s were Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant. They were the standard bearers in WWE.

However, as Hogan started to enjoy the money and fame of being one of WWE's leading lights, he began to enjoy the lifestyle a little too much for Andre's liking.

For those unaware, Andre stood over 7ft tall and is one of the largest men to ever step foot in the wrestling business. He also weighed around 520lbs, so if he wanted to have his way with his opponent, he would.

The Big Show has told a story - that has been confirmed by Hulk Hogan - of when Andre thought Hogan was exposing the business a bit too much and he went way over the top to put him back in line.

"Years ago when Hogan was wearing the light blue tights because he was a heel, he was working with Andre and doing towns. And back then, the business was very kayfabe. Heels were heels and babyfaces were babyfaces.

"Well Hogan was facing Andre and they were on the same flight together. And this was years ago, earlier in Hulk's career. He'd met this pretty young lady on the plane, a flight attendant. He was dancing with her in the aisle, you know, doing the things that young guys do. Andre wasn't having it because Hogan was supposed to be a heel and Andre was always about business.

"He gets to the building and sure enough, Hogan is out first and he got her a nice front row ticket, he's doing the double-bis for her [flexes his biceps] and posing and Andre is calculating all this - hasn't said a word."

Andre was clearly stewing, but what he did next is not from your usual 'get in line' playbook.

Despite being 6ft 7in and 330lbs, Hogan couldn't do a thing about it either.

"So Andre gets in the ring and proceeds to beat the ever-loving snot out of Hulk Hogan. Terry told me himself, 'I was 330lbs and there was nothing I could do'.

"He threw him in the corner and was sitting on his chest in the corner, and then he went to the bathroom while he was sitting on Hogan's chest. Number two! True story.

"Grabbed him by the hair, pulled him out to the middle of the ring, bent him over his knee, took his giant thumb and put it where it's not supposed to go, looked at the flight attendant and said 'how do you like him now?'

"It's one of the most horrific stories ever. But, the lesson to be learned in that is, it's about business. It's not about you. In that ring you have a part to play and it's about business. It's not about your personal gratification to go out there and get yourself over - you have a job to do.

"If you're a heel, be a heel."

Just so we're clear, Andre took a s*** on Hulk Hogan.

Of course, the two men worked together a whole lot more after this and had one of WrestleManias most famous main events at the third iteration of the showpiece where Hogan would bodyslam Andre.

Hogan went on to become one of the top stars the business has ever seen and is largely responsible for putting WWE and WrestleMania on the map.

Andre's health seriously declined as the 90s came around and he would die in 1993, one year after retiring.
