  1. Ahh, I’m SO saving this or future trip planning. I haven’t been to New Zealand yet, but it’s high on my bucketlist. When I do go I MUST do this! I’ve stayed at Hobbitenango in Guatemala and I LOVED it.

    1. Thanks so much, Amanda! I’m sure you’ll love it when you make it there. And how cool you’ve stayed at Hobbitenango!

    Hi!
This is a great write up about one of my favorite places on NZ’s North Island! I’ve been to Hobbiton three times, once solo and twice with various other family members. I did not know that they were building indoor hobbit homes. I may have to go back for another visit when they are finished.
I can tell you that the steak and ale pie at the end of the tour at the Green Dragon is really worth it. It’s been great every time I’ve been!

    1. Thanks so much for checking it out, Christine! So awesome that you’ve been able to visit Hobbiton so many times. Next time we get back there I’ll be sure to try a pie!

  3. I don’t need selling here, I’m just in awe how amazing your pictures are and I can imagine you guys had an absolute fantastic time in Hobbiton. Great news to hear they are expanding the movie set and include some interiours to the holes. Bit of a bugger and letdown to hear the shop is underwhelming 🙁 Guess Weta Workshop will run all the merch and if this is private land, the owners may want the people gone as soon as.

    1. Aw thanks, Carolin! I’m sure you’d love it. The strange thing is it was the owners that wanted them to turn it into a permanent tourist attraction, so you’d think they’d want to make use of that with a better merch store and other things for people to see/do/buy. Strange choice!
