Telangana Election Results: Danam Nagender Wins Khairatabad Assembly

Bharat Rashtra Samithi candidate Danam Nagender won in Khairatabad constituency by defeating Congress’ Vijaya Reddy in the 2023 assembly election of Telangana. Khairatabad witnessed a strong fight between Danam Nagender, who was the senior leader of Congress party in Hyderabad, Vijaya reddy and Chintala Rama Reddy of Bharatiya Janata Party. Danam Nagender was polled 67,368 votes and succeeded from khairatabad constituency. The Congress candidate Vijaya Reddy who was polled 45,358 votes lost her seat at a margin of 22,010 votes. Chintala Rama Chandra Reddy, who was polled 38,094 came in third position in election.

Telangana assembly election was held on November 30 for 119 seats. Khairatabad is a general category assembly seat and one of the 15 constituencies in the capital city of Hyderabad. In 2023, there were a total of 2,89,558 eligible electors in Khairatabad. This constituency covers an approximate area of 10 square kilometres.

In 2014 assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Chintala Rama Chandra Reddy defeated Danam Nagender. Rama Chandra earned 53,102 votes and Nagender 32256 votes. Nagendar was defeated by the margin of 20,846 votes. There was 1,43,923 total voters then. YSRCP candidate P Vijaya Reddy won 23,845 votes which was 16.57% of total votes and secured third position in the election.

Khairatabad assembly election in 2018 witnessed a strong comeback of Danam Nagender of BJP by defeating Chintala Rama Chandra Reddy as the former polled 63,068 votes and latter polled 34,666 votes. Rama Chandra was lost by 28,402 votes. Nagendar succeeded in the constituency by achieving 44.56% of total votes polled. This time, Congress candidate Dasoju Saravan Kumar came third with 33,549 votes. The total number of electors was 2,63,330 in 2018.

Overall, according to the latest reports, out of the total 119 seats in Telangana, the Indian National Congress was leading with 64 seats and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi was in the second position. Bharatiya Janata Party was in the third position in the total seat share with 8 seats. Along with Telangana, the assembly elections were held in other states including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram. The result of these states except Mizoram have also been announced today.
