Through his second truth, he acknowledges the root cause behind suffering is attachment. In today's materialistic society, we have an unnecessary attachment to consumer goods, and this often leads to discontentment when we can't possess such things, his teaching encourages us to examine the role of attachment in our lives and consider the pursuit of inner contentment.
The third noble truth offers hope by stating that suffering can be overcome through practices like mindfulness and meditation which is relevant in today's stress-inducing modern life.
