Eid-ul-Adha 2022: Date, History and Significance of Bakra Eid

Eid-ul-Adha 2022: Bakri-Eid is an annual festival celebrated by the Muslim community all over the world. This day is marked to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifice and dedication. According to the Islamic lunar calender, this festival is usually celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu-al Hijjah. The Gregorian calendar's date, however, varies annually. Crescent Moon will be sighted in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh for Eid-ul-Adha 2022 on July 10 and Dhul Hijjah has started on July 01 and Bakr-Eid is being celebrated today, on 10th July, 2022.In India, Eid is celebrated a day after it is celebrated in Saudi Arabia.
This festival Eid-ul-Adha is also known as Bakr-Eid and this festival is celebrated to describe the willingness of Ibrahim, who was ready to sacrifice his son to show his dedication to Allah. According to the ancient texts, when Ibrahim was ready to sacrifice his son, Shaitan (the devil) tempted Ibrahim and tried to dissuade him from making the sacrifice, but Ibrahim stood firm, Allah saw his pure dedication towards him and sent an angel Gabriel with a sheep to be slaughtered instead of Ibrahim's son. Allah provided a sheep to Ibrahim to sacrifice it as a substitute of his son.
Muslim community celebrates this day by offering special prayers to Allah. People first offer Namaz on this day at various prominent places. They exchange gifts and greetings. People wear new clothes and distribute sweets and the meat is shared among family, friends, relatives and they even distribute it to the needy people.
