I couldn’t NOT mark today with a cute newborn pic. See, this time 3 years ago, I was right here. In bed. With my sleeping baby (sleeping... for now... lol). I remember it like it was yesterday. But it was THREE YEARS AGO. 🥲 YEP, it’s my son’s 3rd birthday — and while perhaps not directly relevant to the content I post here... For me... He is such a BIG part of Zo Connected — and what I’ve built here. I can’t tell you how much becoming a mum to this little dude altered what I wanted. Changed how I did things. And gave me all this energy and purpose and passion. It sounds a bit cliché, I know, but I always feel it deep in my bones. And whenever I’ve found things tough (because we all have those moments), seeing what I’ve achieved raising this little dude — alongside growing my website copywriting business, working with clients in the parenting sector, and collaborating with other incredible, creative, amazing business owners — well, I’m a proud mama *and* business owner. So thank you, E. Today, we celebrate YOU. While the motherhood transition was tough (that’s a story for another time), I am so thankful for you in so so so so many ways. And I love you eternally. More than you’ll ever know. More than I could ever write down (and I looooove writing things down). Zo x #freelancecopywriter #copywriter #websitecopywriter #mumsinbusiness #motherhood

Can I be really honest? Sometimes, I get insanely nervous just before I start a web copy project. I have this HUGE feeling of pressure. Expectation! Me!? Me!!! I have to create something amazing. I have to wow my client. Oh. My. Gosh. It's a lot. And I take this responsibility so seriously. After all, my clients have entrusted me (little old me!) to craft their words. 😥 ...And then? I give myself a reality check. 😎 Because I have a process. A formula. It's tried and tested. It's not magic. It's not some elusive, beautiful artsy thing. It's not *actually* about 'wowing' my client (although that is nice!). It's very tangible. It's a copywriting formula of empathy, clarity, simplicity and conversion. And a dollop of SEO. Oh, and it’s *actually* about wowing my client’s target audience — their dream client. This is my formula. My secret recipe! So, as much as I always feel that trickle of 'oh my gawwwwd, this is a bit scary' when I start a new web copy project, as soon as I open up my formula and follow it, I finish a web copywriting day feeling YES, WE HAVE GOT THIS. 🤩🤩🤩 And, anyway, that little bit of fear keeps me on my toes. Because sometimes things challenge us. That’s okay. I embrace that. 🌿🌿🌿 Want me (yes, little old me) to work on your web copy in 2024? Get in touch, and let's have a lovely little chat. Picture this: you win an all-expenses-paid weekend stay in a stunning, high-end house. You’re over the moon, right? But when you set off on your adventure, the address you were given doesn’t work in Google Maps. It’s a wild goose chase to find the place. But, hey, you’re there now, and the entryway is beautiful! However, there’s nowhere to hang your coat, and you can’t even wipe your feet. It’s a bit confusing, to say the least. You head to the kitchen to chill your Champagne (because, why not?), but the fridge isn’t cooling – it’s heating things up! And thinking about how cold it is, you’d love to soak in a hot bath, but guess what? There’s no hot water! This might seem like an elaborate metaphor, but it’s essentially your beautifully designed high-end website in a nutshell – where nothing works as it should. Now, don’t get me wrong, your amazing web designer will ensure that everything technically functions (of course!), but without the right copy to guide users, it’s like your website is running cold water in the bath and warming up your Champagne instead of cooling it down! *shudder* Website design and website copy should work hand-in-hand -- to achieve the conversion-focused and user-friendly website you need. Just me burning up any copywriting advice I ever give out. 🔥 ONLY JOKING!!!! Of course, there are rules, formulas, best practices, and so much juicy expertise out there that can help you write copy and content with more confidence. This post is not poo-poo-ing that. I think I'd be talking myself out of work!? *nervous laugh* 😅 But what I *am* saying is that sometimes a little rule breaking can add a little spice to your copy and/ or content. A little bit of je-ne-sais-quoi. A little bit of ‘this sounds REAL and I’m loving it’ reaction from your audience. Strict rules can actually hamper creativity. Hamper a story. And at times, even hamper the user experience. Yawwwwwwwn. 🥱 Take web copy, for example. There are certain rules/ formulas/ best practice that — as a copywriter — I can quote verbatim. Do I *always* use them? No. I adapt. I deviate. And sometimes I plain ignore. Because while I can draw comparison between two businesses, you & your business (+ your clients, your offering, your goals) are UNIQUE. And you deserve a bit of creative boundary pushing, when it's aligned with a reason WHY. 🎊 P.s. I'm always clicking 'ignore' on Grammarly. hehe. 🙊 Want to work with a copywriter who isn't gonna ALWAYS keep to the book? I'm your gal. Get in touch. 👋 Discovery calls available in October. ✨ #copywriter #creativity #creativewriter #freelancecopywriter

Yeah, keywords matter. Keyword research matters. But don't let it take away from the juicy data and research staring right at you. 🌿The things your clients say when they reach out for help. 🌿The things your clients say when describing their problems. 🌿The things your clients say when they're relieved - to be working with you. 🌿The things your clients say in your reviews. 🌿The WORDS they use can give so much away - and help you create copy that is suuuuper centred around your ideal. So, pick a dream client. Or ideally, a few. And pull out the stuff they say. Jot the words down. Pop 'em in a spreadsheet - and bring them to life when writing and editing your web copy. Every web copy client of mine gets the opportunity to dive into their client data and research - so you truly have the words that speak volumes to the right people. Y'know, those people you ACTUALLY want knocking on your door. To learn more about my web copywriting service -- and see if it's right for you -- why not book a free discovery call? Copywriting brainwaves 🧠🌊 Ibiza edition ☕️ It's ok not to be everyone's cup of tea And it's fabulous to be someone's ice-cold vino rosado with a view of the beautiful Ibizan coastline. What I'm saying is that your copy can say 'no' to some (and turn them off) because, in doing that, it will say a big fat YES to your ideal clients. So get comfortable with the fact that some people will never like what you say and how you say it. It's your life (and your business). You get to choose. ✨ 😊 Changing your mind is healthy You start the week off loving sautéed swordfish, and by the end of the week you long for beans on toast with a load of grated cheddar on top. Changing your mind is not flakey - in web copy or in life - it's just you (and your business) adapting to what you need right now. Does that sales page you wrote last month need a change? Do it. It's absolutely okay to adapt copy - it's forever changing. ✈️ A little distance can give you clarity Writing for your business can be tough because you're so bloody close to it. I mean, you're in it. You're as close as you can be. And when you see every intricate detail, you can struggle to see the bigger picture. Working with a copywriter gives you that distance, someone to question the things you assume and someone to reflect your target audience back at you. Yes, a copywriter is your website wordsmith, but they're also your demo client - following processes, unpicking jargon and making sure your ideal client does what you need 'em to do. These are just a few of my thoughts - I think they can help with your web copy. And it gave me an excuse to whack up a holiday snap. 'Cos, who doesn't love a *holding wine glass up* photo?! Now, c'mon, lovely people, let's get Q4 sorted! Book a discovery call with me today to discuss your web copy project. Link in comments. ⭐️ #webcopy #webcopywriting #websitecopy #holidaythoughts

Yep, increasing enquiries, leads and selling sh*t is definitely part of fabulous copy. But y'know what? It's SO MUCH MORE than that. Fabulous copy can benefit your business in many ways - and these are my fave. ✅Speaking to the right people and turning off the wrong people means you get more aligned clients that are right for your business (and plus lots more joy from working with them! We've all been there, and clients that don't fit are no fun.) ✅Managing expectations and creating clear boundaries through your copy means you AND your client feel confident, assured and ready to work together. Remove the doubt, keep it clear. ✅Reducing that 'huh?' feeling or that 'whhhhyyy is this so long and complicated?' feeling is BIG for bagging business. Life is busy. We've got 17389 things to do - so make working with you the easy part. Need help with your web copy? Book your free discovery call - I’ll pop the links in comments. #webcopytips #websitecopy

Laura A. was opening her new architect studio business - exciting times! She couldn’t wait to start, but the words - and the strategy that would underpin those words - felt a little overwhelming. She wanted clients to get a real feel for who she is, what she does and her value. And she wanted the right words on her website to infiltrate all her other marketing practices - including networking. I created clear, engaging and focused web copy - that positioned Ashworth Architects as an expert in their field while talking on a level her target audience can get on board with (no stuffy architect-speak allowed!). Our goal was to connect with, engage, nurture and convert those prospects into lovely warm leads, ready to hire Ashworth Architects’ services. Does this sound like something that could help you and your business? Hop over to my website and explore my web copy services - link in bio. #webcopywriting #architectbusiness #webcopywriter Ashworth Architects
